THE 'LENNY' SPREADERBOX - International Patents Pending - PCT/AU02/00912

The ‘Lenny’ Spreaderbox is a computer-controlled aggregate/chip spreader which is primarily used for road and pavement construction or resurfacing
8 years of research and development have been invested in this product.
In May 2000 the prototype was released into operation and subsequent modifications and refinements have since been applied to evolve the current specifications.
The system is computer controlled, employing the highest quality componentry
It is successfully utilised for many applications from small cul de sacs, to sub-divisions and national highways. Boral and the majority of North Coast Councils use the ‘Lenny’ Spreaderboxes on a daily basis.

SOME OF THE ADVANTAGES OF UTILISING THE ‘LENNY’ SPREADERBOX

Guaranteed spread rate, regardless of speed of truck or angle of hoist

"Yes that is correct." whether or not the truck does 2km/hour or 22km /hr or anywhere in between we will give you the same kg per sq meter rate at all speeds. In addition, the truck is spreading and you decide to put the hoist up or down any number of times during the course of the run the Lenny will compensate for that and keep the same kg/sq meter rate. For example, speeding up and putting the hoist down at the same time won't worry Lenny.

Significantly reduces margin for human error

By using the computer controlled spreader system you will almost completely eliminate the human error factor.
note: as long as there is a human in the truck there will be a chance for some error

Reduces waste by over 20% ie, by using less aggregate & less precoate than manual or automatic spreading

Once you see how the computer controls your spreading you can recognise how much savings can be achieved

Reduces rolling time and sweeping/suction time and it is only ever necessary to spread over an area once
Machine controlled spreading creates very high level of accuracy. 9 Individual 1ft (30cm) gates allow controlled spreadrates, down to a 1ft (30cm) spread width.

Ability to prove spread rates by data logging. Very useful in litigation situations and any situation that requires proof of spread rate, e.g. Quality Assurance Projects.

SBA has tried to address and reduce litigation cases which are not only costly and getting worse but also creating unsafe work places (putting too much on the road)
Our lenny not only controls spreadrates it can prove it too. how do we do that? by having a real time clock and datalogging capability evertime aggregate is spread through the gates it logs it. time, date, aggregate weight, aggregate size, lenny serial number and start and stop times. If you change anything during the course of the run eg agg weight etc, it will be displayed. check it out for yourself (hand comes up and shows the data log)

Data linkage via internet modem allows for remote technical support/backup.

By having a datalink we can provide onsite service, tech support or downloads very simply

Operator friendly. Simple controls allow from minimal training, allowing anyone to be the operator..

People that operate it say that by not having to worry about controlling spread rates themselves they find all they have to do is observe for any potential hazards before they happen
