ABOUT THE INVENTOR
John Crampton is the creator of the "Lenny" SpreaderBox. John has been in the business of road resurfacing and building in Australia for 24 years, with the past 15 specifically focussed on tipper trucks used in resealing & pavement work.

His experience combined with that of his father, who has over 40 years experience, led to the development of the prototype released in May 2000. Three years later, after consistent testing and modifications, the current fail-safe unit is in general production and usage. This equipment has been developed by people that use it every day. They have created the technology to support the product, rather than the technology defining the product.

"LENNY" BEST ON THE MARKET
August 2006

In August 2006 RoadTek Plant Hire Services in Queensland purchased 3 cabin operated "Lenny" Computer Controlled SpreaderBoxes including cameras. After 4 months of continuous operation they are more than impressed with the consistent spread rate and the ease of operation of these SpreaderBoxes. 8 FOOT SPREADERBOX INTRODUCED IN SYDNEY
18th April 2004

Sami Road Services, a national bitumen industry supplier and sprayer (and leader in innovation in the industry), came to SpreaderBoxes looking for a way to work 24/7 in Metropolitan Sydney. The RTA law says anything on the road over 2.5 meters must have signs and travel during restricted hours. Until now industrial commercial gravel spreaders are a standard 9 feet. SpreaderBoxes with their hands on innovative approach have developed a first of its kind 8 foot unit that opens (spreads) to 9 foot. "Sami were very pleased with our ability to manufacture a fully functional prototype which was trialled for a couple of months. In April they purchased their first extendable". The working name for SpreaderBoxes second product is Lenny 8.

RTA UTILISES CONTROLLED SPREAD RATES FOR RESEAL PROGRAM
18th February 2004

SpreaderBox technology was used to complete an RTA reseal program on the Pacific Highway on NSW's North Coast. SpreaderBoxes were brought in at the end of the reseal program where controlled spread rates were required. "The RTA was very impressed with the reporting capabilities that come with our equipment. The Data logging capabilities provide proof of spread rate". Both day and night work was performed.

BORAL TAKES DELIVERY OF ANOTHER SPREADERBOX
15th January 2003

ROAD INDUSTRY WELCOMES NEW SPRAY SEAL CHIP/AGGREGATE SPREADER
MEDIA RELEASE - 30th May 2003 Sydney

Resurfacing and paving Australia’s 320,000 km of bituminous sealed roads is about to become more accurate, safer and easier with the official launch of the ‘Lenny’ Spreaderbox at CIVENEX 2003 beginning in Sydney on June the 4th.

Described by a Boral Asphalt representative as ‘the most exciting thing that has happened to the spray seal industry in over a quarter of a century’ the ‘Lenny’ Spreaderbox is a computer-controlled aggregate/chip spreader which is primarily used for road and pavement construction or resurfacing.

Eight years in the development and in use for the past two years by Boral and five northern NSW Councils, the technology has recently won acceptance into the NSW Government’s Australian Technology Showcase promotion for innovative Australian technology.

With 24 years road resurfacing and building experience in Australia behind him, John Crampton the creator of the ‘Lenny’ Spreaderbox maintains the technology will substantially improve the quality and cost of road surfacing in Australia - something that should be of great interest to State roads and traffic authorities and local councils alike.

A fully fitted ‘Lenny’ Spreaderbox truck will be on display during the two day of CIVENEX 2003. Simple to operate and easily adapted to different vehicles and spreaders, the machine controlled spreading creates a very high level of accuracy. A data log proof of spread rates is provided for quality assurance and data linkage via internet modem allows for remote technical support and operator backup.

A three mode operation includes a fully safe, level and protected platform for the operator which is hard-wired through an uninterruptible intercom communication to the driver. Backed by 3 cameras, strategically placed on the back of the truck for optimum vision, the portable console can also be moved inside the cab for operation by either a passenger or driver alone.

Combining high technology computerised monitoring with the traditional spreading technology, enables the ‘Lenny’ Spreaderbox to ensure guaranteed spread rates, regardless of speed of truck or angle of hoist and to significantly reduce waste by over 20% by using less aggregate & less pre-coat, than manual or automatic spreading.
